Hi All,
Slight frustration here about doing something simple and anyway::
I've been ripping and writing CD's on my linux box for a while
now. And as far as actually doing the writing, handling the hardware
it's definitely more stable/solid than windows.
But I'm really wishing there were a single function
way to rip a cd into the machine, convert it to MP3, get the
title information and insert said information into the mp3.
Now windoze does this but I'd just as soon not have to boot
into MS land. Does anyone know a package/program to do this
on linux? Currently I'm using
arson----------------------tried this and switched to xcd-roast
xcd-roast------------------for writing HD -> CD
cdparanoia-----------------for ripping from HD to HD
bladeenc ------------------converting encoder for wav -> mp3
Yeah, I can have done it. But seems so archaic. And it doesn't
get the information bout the cd titles from CDDB into the MP3s.
Maybe it's I don't know the ways to do it. In which case could
someone advise me of some FAQ/HOWTO or arcane bit of lore on
how to get these various bits to work together to do this simple
task? Even how to get the titles into the mp3's without using
an editor and doing it by hand would be excellent.
thanks
J.
