This is probably not what you meant but have you considered using
Yahoo's Instant Messenger? If you have halfway decent bandwidth we've
found it useful for communicating in engineering and it does have
voice communications. Need a small mic to hook to your
sound card and then listen over your sound system. Sounds a bit
boomy unless you've got the mic close to your lips. But if it's
your girl friend maybe you won't mind... ;)
