Just a cautionary note. Your skill set might be one that will win you
the perfect job. But having been out of work for nine months myself,
make sure that your significant other is willing and able to support
the two of you while you search. I say "able" as you will find the bay
area still very pricey despite the number of unemployed computer
engineers.

I have seen linux mentioned in the jobs list occasionally but system
admin is possibly more marketable. That and having security clearances.
Just an aside but it's been one of those little surprises that I've had
my nose rubbed in, i.e. how much of the embedded and software tools work
that used to be done here has been shipped off shore to India. And now
I'm told Vietnam and eastern europe are making bids to compete with
India for software work.

Check Craigslist.org.
In past times the San Jose Mercury was the newspaper that carried the
most computer related job notices, but as of recent I've found the
S.F. Chronicle carries as much or more.
