That's funny, given HP's support of Debian (*) and hiring of Bruce Perens 
back in the day (+).  In fact, 
http://h20219.www2.hp.com/services/cache/76815-0-0-225-121.html seems to 
claim HP does support Debian.

We had that problem with the RAM of an amd64 system trying both Fedora and 
Debian at acm.jhu.edu.  Unfortunately I can't remember for the life of me 
how we solved it, but I'll mail the list again if I can find the person 
who helped us out of it.  I think we solved it just before we installed 
Solaris to try out ZFS.
