We're on for BALUG fortune cookies at LinuxWorld Expo!

As mentioned earlier (e.g.:
http://lists.balug.org/pipermail/balug-admin-balug.org/2007-July/000385.html
et seq.
)
we've been looking at doing custom fortune cookies to be handed out
at LinuxWorld Expo.

Most urgently needed (hopefully we can get this wrapped up by
Monday morning),

A) What exactly do we want printed on the "fortune" (BALUG stuff will
be printed on one side of the "fortune" in the cookie). Based on
earlier information, we probably have at most line length of 32
characters to work with, and max of 3 lines. It might be a bit less
than that - so plan/think conservatively space-wise. Also, for 3 lines,
think of priority and ordering - so if we have to drop it to 2 lines, we
know which line to drop out. I was thinking perhaps, for the 1st and last
line:
Bay Area Linux Users Group
http://www.balug.org/
perhaps (hopefully :-)) folks can think of brilliant ideas for one more
line between those - presuming we want to and can and/or improvements to
those lines. I was thinking for additional line - presuming we can do 3 -
to go between those two of possibly:
Chinatown, San Francisco
or:
meets in Chinatown, SF
Anyway, please let us know your thoughts/ideas

B) we've got one commercial (open source based) sponsor to well help out
with costs, but we're also looking for funding and specific pledge amounts
from individual contributors. If you can and will contribute to this,
we'd like to know exactly how much - so we can adjust the order size to match
funding. To let us know on funding contributions and pledge amount,
send an e-mail to: balug-fortune-cookie-funding at balug.org
(if you're looking at this in list archive, you may need to change
" at " back into the at sign). Also let us know if you want
to be individually named as a contributor, or if you just want to be
part of the not individually named "and other BALUG contributors".
We'll almost certainly have some flyer (or mini-flyer - might be 1/4 sheet)
that has some more information about BALUG to be passed out with the
cookies (and will also continue to be distributed after the cookies
run out) and may also put some of that information on the BALUG web site.

Looks like we'll probably have fairly well over 1,000 cookies to distribute.
Exactly how many will probably depend on specific funding/pledges (current
guestimate is >~= 1,500 cookies).
