Hey. I actually recently moved FROM Mountain View, back to Davis.
(Note to those who might miss me -- I work in Menlo Park on Tues & Thurs, and
am happy to get together w/ friends for lunch, esp. if you can provide the
wheels :^) )
I highly recommend our LUG out here in Davis:
http://www.lugod.org/
You know... if you feel like driving 80-100 miles... ;^)
Some other, more _local_ LUGs to look into:
Silicon Valley LUG (SVLUG) in Mtn View (or there'bouts)
http://www.svlug.org/
Peninsula LUG (PenLUG) in Redwood City (or there'bouts)
http://www.penlug.org/
San Francisco LUG (SF-LUG) also in San Fran
http://www.sf-lug.org/
There's also:
East Bay LUG (EBLUG) in Fremont
http://www.eblug.org/
Stanford University LUG (SULUG) in Palo Alto
http://sulug.stanford.edu/
North Bay LUG (NBLUG) way up in Sebastopol
http://www.nblug.org/
Bay Area Debian (BAD) meets on occasion at various locales in the bay
http://bad.debian.net/
And don't forget LinuxWorld Expo, next month at the Moscone Center in SF:
http://www.linuxworldexpo.com/
And the annual Linux Picnic ("Picn*x") in Sunnyvale, the following weekend:
http://www.linuxpicnic.org/
(Note: I'm still on the picn*x mailing list -- dudes... is there any actual
_planning_ going on? I really fear this year might come out similar to
last year, coordination-wise. :^( :^( Sadly, I once again have no time to
invest, since (1) I live in Davis again and (2) i have a ~7mo old baby!)
Anyway, good luck and enjoy! Welcome to the area.
