I use the presentation portion of OpenOffice.org (rather than Draw)
to make flyers for a science fiction convention. That way, I can export
it as a PowerPoint file if I need to send an editable copy to someone
who's stuck on a legacy OS. If I were starting from scratch, and didn't
need to do that, I'd probably try Scribus first.
OOo Presentation works reasonably well for me, especially since I
rarely add images to the flyers, and usually just concentrate on getting
the right wording and placing the text so the flyers look good.
