[Balug-Talk] DirectFB or Allegro

I'm using a custom Linux build that does not have X support. I'll be
writing a GUI that must be fast so, I wanted a lean API, not anything
with a lot gui stuff built into it. Allegro is small and I thought it
would be just right for writing a small fast gui with some animation.

DirectFB looks really nice and the docs say it was written for use in
embedded systems. Would anyone recommend this API instead?  

I'm not writing a game, my task is to write this unique gui.
