I had some good look capturing with kino and editing with kdenlive.
My main complaint is that the UI isn't as clean as I'd like, and I
wound up making it worse by dragging a window into a position I
couldn't seem to get it out of, but the combo of these two apps was
useful and simple enough to easily train non-native english speakers
to use (at a language school) in an afternoon.

One list of video-editing software for mutiple platforms is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_editing_software
Anyone else have extensive direct experience with Kino and KDEnlive under Ubuntu's Hardy or Intrepid ?? Maybe Kino and KDEnlive are or are NOT really "ready for prime time" on Ubuntu, however, few other video-editing options are readily available for Ubuntu.
Yes, Cinelerra as an alternative was already mentioned.
Also, any decent video-editing recommendations for someone who's regularly used iMovie on Mac OS X (G3s & G4s), and who's now a newbie to Ubuntu on an x86 PC ??
