Speaking from the PenLUG point of view, I think that such messages should
only be sent to the PenLUG list. Anyone who is attending a PenLUG meeting
is more likely to be on the PenLUG list than the BALUG list, regardless of
where they live.
If you're passionate about advocating for carpooling, then I invite you to
set up some kind of carpool matchmaking Web site, and we can send links to
that in the announcements for the meetings.
Or if you like I can set up carpool at penlug.org to forward to you and mention
that in the announcements, and you can serve as the carpool yenta for future
meetings.
