Being francophone (as it turns out), Baptiste probably meant "in
contrast with", but lunged for a noun with the wrong connotations.

(Sorry, Baptiste, it's English and therefore not systemically logical.)

Your American bias is showing.  In _most_ of the English-speaking world,
companies are construed as plural.  ("Lloyds Bank have accounced their
quarterly results.")
