[BALUG-Talk] XBRL?

Folks,

I got a request from my father, who reads Edgar filings pretty 
frequently for work.  Apparently, what used to come out as such 
filings is now coming out as the XBRL stuff, which is some kind of XML
serialization, as I understand it.

Any pointers to tools, processors, etc.?  Free is good, FLOSS is
better, but he can probably pay for something proprietary if there's
nothing else out there.
