[BALUG-Talk] kubuntu wireless problem

New HP laptop, intel bgn1000 wireless card.
wireless worked automatically with windows.
Kubuntu 9.10 installed beside windows and
wired internet works great even though there is
no entry in interfaces.
ifwlist scanning says linux sees the dlink wireless
router, quality 45/70.
iwconfig says wlan0 signal level 0.
So....
I added to interfaces  auto interface inet wlan0 dhcp
I did networking restart and after many DHCPDISCOVERS
got no DHCPOFFERS received.
The driver and card must be working because scan sees
the DLink and all Win laptops in the house work fine.
