The mess of Linux audio

The slightly less mess of Linux video

Wanting to use bluetooth headset with Linux.

Already use it with cell phone (in car) - I should be able to use with
skype or music on netbook also.

Tried this, more-or-less - I used Gnome GUI for bluetooth scan and pairing.
The mplayer command works. ALSA sees the bluetooth device, but PulseAudio
(something on top of ALSA I think) does not.

Found this:
http://fosswire.com/post/2008/01/a2dp-stereo-linux/

Checked it out - seems okay, seems to set up ALSA and some gstreamer
stuff but the pulseaudio is commented out.

However, when I run the a2dp.py script, I get this:

dbus.exceptions.DBusException: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.UnknownMethod: Method "ActivateService" with signature "s" on interface "org.bluez.Manager" doesn't exist

Anyone got any ideas?

The weird thing is, there seems to be no coordinating list or anything
between projects - everyone is in their own well, it seems. Maybe
only phoronix blog covers Linux multimedia. Someone should do this.
They don't even have to be very proficient in anything, just coordinate
and herd the cats working on various projects to make things simpler.
