Logcheck is my kung-fu.

It's one of several similar utilities that report _unusual_ activity in
system logfiles.  Deciding what is unusual is up to you, which is to say
you iteratively tweak the 'ignore' rulesets to cease telling you about
system events you've decided aren't worth being told about.

So, you end up occasionally getting a mail telling you about
deemed-significant 'System Events' logfile entries.  One of these
alerted me to the glitch.
