Hi BALUG Volunteers:
What do you guys think about making a 2nd BALUG announcement that reminds folks of Bruce Peren's talk next week on high volume LUG lists in the area? Specifically, I am thinking that the talk lists of ACCU, SVLUG, SFLUG and BayPiggies are high enough volume that a reminder may be seen as helpful (or at a minimum not bother folks). Does anyone else have any input here?

A) know your audience/list. I'd think that's probably fine for SF-LUG. I don't know the lists of the others well enough to specifically comment on those. B) "reminder" - particularly to other than BALUG list(s) is probably better appreciated and/or tolerated if it's short and sweet - e.g. it can be a very short mention and include a URL to a) the BALUG URL where the information is readily viewable and/or b) URL to the previous publicly archived message that was sent to that group/UG/forum.
Anyway, just my guestimates/perspective. Any specific feedback from the other lists/forums may be a more useful guide.

michael's observations make sense to me (speaking as a balug supporter in this case). seems to me important to keep a record of responses if you test the waters by sending reminders. any howls of pain should be taken seriously. jim

So far no howls of pain that I know of. But I do agree that that if they happen we should take them seriously.

Sounds highly reasonable to me.
