Passing this along from CABAL to BALUG. (I'll be just getting off a flight from Athens on Thursday, June 21, so I'll not be able to attend.)

Hi,
As you may know Annual Tech is in Santa Clara, June 17-22 this year. I just wanted to see if your group would be interested in holding its June meeting at the conference, or if you would be interested in working together on a Super User Group Meeting at Annual Tech.
Also, would you be willing to put the USENIX Annual Tech button on your website in exchange for a registration discount for your members?
Please let me know if you'd be interested.
Thank you!

Interesting idea. Do we have to be registered attendees to hold our meeting on site? I might try to crash the BOFs at 7pm anyway.
Let's find out how much the discount is. They don't seem to offer any free "exhibits-only" passes, so it looks like a minimum of $380 (non-member) to walk in the door. I'll email Ms. Peterson unless somebody else wants to.

I have no information from inside USENIX Association to offer, but can report that the one _prior_ USENIX Super User Group Meeting, in which a bunch of LUGs participated (20045?), was held separately from the annual conference, and was entirely free of charge.

I think this sounds like fun. We don't have a speaker yet for June anyway. Why don't we get in touch with PENLUG, SVLUG, NBLUG, etc?
and SF-LUG... and how about giving Ed a second chance?

Speaking for myself only: I will probably not attend the USENIX User Group Meeting and I thought balug was going to give Ed another Chance.
Hope everyone has a good weekend! My wife and I are both Ill, but I am getting better.

I presume you meant BALUG?
Sure - but I'll reply a bit more off-list (to the "speaker coordinators") momentarily. Sorry I didn't respond to your 2006-05-16 e-mail about that earlier (it's also a bit easier to plan and publicize now that we've effectively regained control of our main we page too).

no, SF-LUG, to be added to Jesse's list of SVLUG, PenLUG, <OTHERLUG>...
