Quoting Michael Paoli (Michael.Paoli@cal.berkeley.edu):
Any idea who(/what) controls balug@googlegroups.com ?
{tilt} Nope.
What's even more peculiar, as far as I can tell, this thing has never been mentioned anywhere on the Web that got picked up by Google Search. Weird. It's like someone created it and then decided to never mention it anywhere else.
If you join it, I'll be curious to hear what if anything is in the archives, and whether the membership roster is viewable (probably not).
Back during SVLUG's most-troubled years when unreformed-alcoholic President Paul Reiber alienated the entire volunteer team and then unilaterally decided to try to move everything to Google hosting, one of the things he created was a Google Group that he intended to replace svlug@lists.svlug.org. (Why? Nobody knows for sure.) Actually, he might have created more than one, but that's the one that gave us headaches for years afterwards, because it kept barraging various svlug.org alias addresses with unwanted mail. (Reiber did exactly zero cleaning up after himself when he was forced out of office, IIRC a bit over halfway through his term.) We mopped that up, eventually (for values of 'we' meaning just me).
