Status/tracking - DreamHost.com exodus FYI, added a wiki-page to track at least high-level steps & status: https://www.wiki.balug.org/wiki/doku.php?id=balug:dreamhost_exodus
I'm expecting to be fully off DreamHost.com by end of this month, at least if all goes sufficiently and reasonably well. Mostly just takes some available time for me to crank through the remaining steps (and one step - or set of steps, for DreamHost.com to do). Highly optimistically I'd say we'd be done by mid-month ... but more realistically, within 7 to 10 days ... so ... that'd be by 2017-08-22. Let's see if we can make/beat that target! :-)
Getting closer! :-) Can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it's *not* and oncoming train! :-) latest (high-level) update bits/status here: https://www.wiki.balug.org/wiki/doku.php?id=balug:dreamhost_exodus
And yes, did add SPF on list of things to be done/checked: https://www.wiki.balug.org/wiki/doku.php?id=balug:mail_and_lists
What mostly remains is: o set up (to be) @balug.org email infrastructure (not too huge a task, since most of the MTA and anti-spam infrastructure is already in place on that target host) o get raw mbox list archvies from DreamHost.com (hopefully that takes a few working days or less) o some updates and notifications, and do the big DNS changes to get off of DreamHost.com (then we're actually free of DreamHost.com) o various follow-through items
Random: we have over 500 users in ye olde PhpNuke database (hopefully eventually restore that old content to a set of static archived pages; nowadays, much more feasible to work out the kinks to crawl/extract that content, after first setting it up on some small virtual machine just for that purpose).

o N (future) add appropriate SPF records for @lists.balug.org, @balug.org
One SPF record. One. If you don't believe me, read the spec.
More details are and remain on the relevant wiki pages (and they're fairly close to current).
High level is we're not far away from completing migration. Have a bit of bottleneck for communication to DreamHost primary account holder and follow-through to request DreamHost providing of raw mbox archive files, and DreamHost satisfactorily fulfilling such. After that it's just about down to some "mechanics" (relatively easy - especially with all the staging and pre-work that's been done) to complete the migration, and wee bit 'o time due to some DNS TTLs (those will cause up to 48 hrs. for some steps to 100% complete).
So ... at this point essentially waiting on two steps to be completed which I can't directly control ... so we wait a bit. But I'm reasonably confident those two steps (and probably in relatively rapid succession) will be completed in the upcoming week or two ... and I'll be increasingly persistent, as appropriate (and while trying not to be a "nag"), to see that those steps get completed.
Also, most of the @balug.org infrastructure is in place and about ready to go ... I just need to tweak MTA (exim4) config very slightly at the time of DNS switchover - but it's been fairly well tested thus far. The @balug.com alias stuff "works" - at least for certain definitions of "works" - notably not worse than it exists on the DreamHost.com infrastructure ... even tested out fair improvement upon it - and can finish implementing those bits of improvements anytime between now and when that actual switch over is kicked off (probably just another 30 to 120 minutes of my time to do the configs more fully and some additional testing ... I'll likely put some more details up later about that ... more notably after I've tested further, and see how much I'm able to feasibly improve it without having to spend too much time mucking about with it).

The antispam's the difficult bit, so props to you for working through that.

I'd really love to use your work as the basis for a 'how to construct a modern MTA/MLM server on Debian w/Exim, Mailman, sa-exim, and EximConfig + various tweaks' HOWTO / recipe. For one thing, I might have use for it soon.
I mean yes, I've done all of that before, but always in a hurry without keeping meticulous notes.
